How does a person react when its familiar environment isn’t secure any more? How fragile does then the own existance seem to be? Which unknown strength and creative forces are unleashed?
DIN A 13 tanzcompany’s new project UPHEAVAL explores similar emotional states in contexts which are historically, socially and geographically as far away from each other as Sri Lanka, Israel and Venezuela.
The DIN A 13 tanzcompany, one of the few mixed-abled dance companies worldwide, started its project UPHEAVAL in Sri Lanka in collaboration with local artists in 2011. ChangeABLE cohesion (Upheaval I), was premiered at the Colombo International Theatre Festival and toured in Germany and India, being invited to various Contemporary Dance Festivals. ChangeABLE cohesion was called by critic Melanie Suchy “best dance production 2011/12" in a critics poll by performing arts magazine AKT.
Upheaval II was developed in Venezuela in dialogue with local artists. CONtraSENTIDO, the piece resulting of this encounter, toured in Germany and was invited to the International Theatre Festival of Caracas, where it was called one of the best twelve productions of the year 2012.
The third part of the project, UPHEAVAL III: HOMEZONE was created in Israel by Gerda König in collaboration with Vertigo – The Power of Balance. The new production was premiered in Israel on October, 29th 2013 and toured in Germany immediatly afterward.
UPHEAVAL will be wrapped up with performed installations in Berlin and Cologne, in which all three productions will be combined into one.
