Perfectly unperfect

This co-production with Theater Hagen was created for the 20th anniversary of DIN A 13 tanzcompany. The result of this collaboration was the opening performance of the mixed abled dance festival “Farben des Tanzes” from 31.05.-07.06.2015 at Theater Hagen. The project involved dancers from Theater Hagen as well as 4 disabled dancers from Kenya, Venezuela and Brazil.

This collaboration between a municipal theater and a mixed abled dance company serves as a model and is a cultural and political milestone.

Fingers, hands, arms that meet in a corridor of light and become an ensemble. A handsome man dresses with bizarre dance-like movements, while someone is scrupulously careful not to use the brand new floor. Perfect architecture merges with organic bodies - and women deconstruct their own illusion. In a game of confusion and irritation, what appears to be perfect is stripped of its foundation; invalidated. And in the end, you ask yourself: “What is imperfect? - And how beautiful is the beautiful appearance?”

A total of 11 very special dancers from Ballett Hagen and guest dancers with special physical characteristics from Brazil, Kenya and Venezuela have worked on these questions in this co-production with DIN A 13 tanzcompany under the direction of Gerda König.
